Piazza IV Novembre

Piazza IV Novembre is the central square of Bosa, in the centre of which there is the war memorial, whose structure of large square blocks of local pink trachyte serves as a backdrop and pedestal for the large statue of the “Vittoria Alata” made in 1932 by the sculptor and engraver Publio Morbiducci, one of the artists who most characterised the public spaces of the capital during the twenty years of Fascism.

The “Vittoria Alata” – here half-naked, muscular and powerful – is one of the most used symbolic figures during the regime, for its rhetorical value of reaffirming the national war force.
